Scope & content | This booklet describes the history and processes of cider making in Guernsey from the 16th to 18th centuries. The industry was based on farms gathering apples from large orchards to be crushed using stones powered by horse wheels and then pressed in a massive apple press. A glossary and patois words and terms used in Guernsey cider-making is provided. The names of popular varieties of Guernsey cider apples is listed.
