Scope & content | Children's storybook of a traditional Dutch folk tale. A miller's cat saved a baby during the St Elizabeth's Day storm on 5 November 1421 that broke the dikes and flooded villages in South Holland. After the storm the villagers built a stronger dike and moved their houses and the windmill to the top of the dike. The dike was named Kinderdijk (Children's Dike) to honour the child saved by the brave cat. |
