Five papers delivered at the 1985 Water Symposium in Berlin. One paper deals with the history of water tunnels, another with the award of a medal to an industrial archaeologist. Of the three covering the use of water power, one describes waterwheel driven pumps of the 18th and 19th centuries, mainly in Germany: Möhrendorf, Landau (Bad Arolsen), Bad Nauheim, Mainz. This paper is illustrated with photos, maps and historic and modern diagrams. Another paper deals with historic water works in Germany driven by water wheels; this paper is also illustrated with photos of wheels, reservoirs and water towers. The final paper covers the development of water driven pumps used for brine extraction at Bad Reichenhall. This is illustrated with photos, and historic diagrams and drawings. The booklet contains a personal hand-written dedication by one of the authors.
