    A guide to the wind and water mills of the Osnabrück district of Lower Saxony. The first half is a general introduction, briefly covering each of the following: the history of mills in the area, the development of mills and their technology, the way mills were used for two millennia, the decline of mills in the 19th and 20th centuries, the conservation of mills, the mill “open door” day in Bremen and Lower Saxony, the possible renaissance of mills, and a very brief glossary of milling terms.

    The second half contains details of 15 individual mills which can be visited, and a map showing their locations. It ends with an overview of two hiking routes from mill to mill, and details of the local conservation association.The first part of the booklet is illustrated with sketches, the second half has colour photos of each of the mills described.
