Scope & content | Author Drew Miller retired to Norfolk in the 1920's and converted the derelict drainage mill, Dydall's (Dydler's) Mill, at Hoveton St. John into a home. On top of the mill he built a glass studio in which he could paint and write. Trained as an American journalist with an ear for an amusing story, he also spent a lot of time at the theatre. This book is a series of short sketches similar to a theatrical revue where the characters reappear in different stories but with a romantic tale running through the book. He captures the humour and spirit of native Norfolk River people and the visitors who spend their time there. |
