    New European Union PAP Legislation will give novel proteins the green light. This article by James Cooper, who has recently eaten food-grade insect snacks himself, examines where the appetite for novel proteins and insect meal is coming from and how they will impact feed sustainability and food security over coming decades.

    Novel proteins will find their place in feed formulations, but to be a serious contender to soy and fishmeal, its level of sustainability will need to improve as the sector scales up.
