Scope & content | This book describes the work of a team of Texas-based windmill erectors in the first half of the 20th century. The text has been woven around a remarkable private collection of contemporary photographs that depict typical scenes from windmill construction sites in the 1920's and 1930's. The story is told through the words of Lindsay Baker and other windmillers of the time, and the photographs of B. H. "Tex" Burdick. This book also gives some information on the first recorded windmills in the United States in Jamestown, Virginia in the 1620's. |
