Flowing 91 miles through Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk from its source at Arbury Hill near Daventry,Northamptonshire to the Wisbech Canal and the docks at Sutton Bridge near Wisbech in Suffolk. Its final outfall is into the Wash estuary. It is the tenth longest river in England and navigable for 88 miles through a series of locks and staunches that control the river levels from Northampton to the Wash. 19th and early 20th century photographs and drawings illustrate the activity and industries powered and reliant on this river and its watermills.
