Scope & content	This directory covers mainly commercial brewers, defined as common or wholesale producers supplying public houses or the private trade in bulk. It also includes pubs where evidence of brewing can be corroborated. The historical information is mainly drawn from trade directories based on the historical counties apart from Greater London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, West Midlands. The entries for each region are listed in alphabetical order of town and within each town, in alphabetical order of brewer. An index of towns and and an index of brewers is provided at the end of the book.
