    Scope & contentSummary Translation

A booklet about the Hüven mill in Lower Saxony, starting with a brief overview of the history of milling before going into more detail about the mill itself, which ceased operation in 1950 and is now an official monument.

It was first mentioned in 1534, later burned down and was rebuilt in 1801. Shortage of water persuaded the miller to switch from corn to oil and fulling, but he built a windmill for corn in 1832.

The water mill was later converted for bone crushing and fulling, and from 1886 became a saw mill.

The booklet describes the development of the mill, the millers, the cost of millwrighting, and the rescue of the mill after 1950.It is illustrated with diagrams, photos and maps.
