The chapters cover: mills in general over time; Vodes mill over the last 50 years and the changes made, written by a son of the millers with labelled sketches of some of the machinery; an account of the Vodes Mill Friends’ group, constituted in 1985. The longest section contains a detailed history of the mill, its ownership, the millers, the users, settlement, legal disputes, land use and the church. It ends with a map of the village in 1830 and a list of house names and families in the village in 1852 and the present.It is illustrated with photos and some historical reproductions, and contains advertisements from local businesses. |
