The archives of Union Mill in Cranbrook, Kent, collected by the late Wynn Tremenheere, are now available online.
The smock mill in Cranbrook was built in 1814 and was owned and worked by the Russell family from 1832 to 1958. It is now a grade I listed visitor attraction maintained by the Cranbrook Windmill Association. You can read more about its history on their website.
Wynn Tremenheere, chairman of the association for many years, gathered a lot of material about the history of the mill with the help of descendants of the Russell family. This is now in the process of being digitised and catalogued and made available online by the Cranbrook Windmill Association in partnership with the Mills Archive. You can view ‘Book 1’ here.
