Someone recently got in touch with us about a photograph from his great grandfather’s collection. It shows what was – until yesterday – an unidentified watermill, and makes for a striking image.
The watermill has now been identified as Newark Mill in Surrey, which was destroyed by fire in 1966.
The photo is believed to have been taken in the 1950s, and clearly shows a workman – perhaps the miller? – smiling at the photographer from across the mill pond.
Do you know who this person in the photo might be? Or who else worked at the mill during the 1950s? Any information would be greatly appreciated and if you email me at friends@millsarchive.org I will pass your information to the family member.
