Hello again everyone! It’s been almost a year since I left the Mills Archive, and I feel very happy and nostalgic to be blogging for them again. I am writing from my home in Mombasa, Kenya, where I will be keeping an eye out for any interesting milling stories that I can share with you all.
Although I have been absent from the Archive offices, I have eagerly been following all the developments that have been happening over the past year. I have been most excited about the beautiful new website! I fondly remember all the meetings I had been a part of during its development, and I felt very proud of the team seeing it all come to life on the Internet. I have also had a good time exploring all the new features that we had only talked about while I was still at the Archive. In particular, the Shop and the organization of the Mill Writing sections looked especially good to me, since there was so much development that went into it.
I have also enjoyed the regular blogging by Becky Spokes, and learning about the day-to-day news at the office, as well as all the interesting anecdotes that are unearthed as the collections are archived. It was incredibly fulfilling to see the Holman Brothers project received so well, especially as I know Guy Boocock had been working on it for such a long time. Congratulations to the whole team, and I look forward to seeing those wonderful discoveries shared with milling enthusiasts everywhere.
That’s all from me for now. I am looking forward to my new role as a remote blogger for the Archive, so watch this space for more updates from me!
