Today’s Daily Telegraph highlights Eling Tide Mill’s search for a new miller and uses an editorial to emphasise the mill’s green credentials and excellent flour.
The spendid photo (high quality version available on request) shows David Plunkett, who will train the candidate in “a job so unusual that applicants do not need any experience”. The mill produces 16 tons of flour a year and the miller earns around £16,000 pa for 24 hours per week.
The editorial insists that a golden thumb is not required, but a knowledge of “archaic” engineering would be more of an asset. David’s wife Ros is mentioned, as she makes a habit of baking a loaf each week to check the qualitty of the flour.
Eling Tide Mill is a Friend of the Mills Archive, as is David and the Hampshire Mills Group (Ros is the editor of their newsletter – having taken up the reins again after Sheila Viner retired).
