The Daily Telegraph (1st December 2012) reports:

Sales of garlic are booming near the village of Zarozje after the council advised villagers to use the herb to ward off Sava Savanovic, one of Serbia’s most famous vampires, The Romanian Times reported.

He is believed to have been reawakened after a ruined mill, said to have been his resting place, collapsed. Local mayor Miodrag Vujetic said: “People are worried. Everyone knows the legend.”

The image (from another source) reputedly shows the mill which, “according to legend is where world’s first vampire lives”.
