Journals
An important type of milling publication was the journal. Milling journals grew in tandem with roller milling yet have been ‘relatively neglected’ and ‘hidden from general knowledge’ (Jones, p.1). They were a crucial part of daily life for a miller throughout the world. Before they started being regularly produced in the 1870’s, there had been ‘no regular and widespread method of communicating technical matters in the…milling industry’ (Jones, p.18). These new publications meant that communication and new ideas could be easily shared and allowed the miller to keep up to date with news and advancements in the industry.
