The winners of the 2014 English Heritage Angel Awards were announced at an awards ceremony held at The Palace Theatre in London on 3 November 2014. The Oldland volunteers won the award as the “English Heritage Followers’ and Telegraph Readers’ Favourite”.

The photograph shows Technical Adviser Philip Hicks and Immediate past chairman, Fred Maillardet collecting the award from Andrew Lloyd Webber. Stuart Meier the current Chairman writes:

“On Monday 3 November, volunteers from Oldland Mill in Keymer near Hassocks West Sussex were voted the national “top of the pops” in the 2014 Angel Awards. To thunderous applause, they received the Award from Andrew Lloyd Webber, on behalf of English Heritage. Oldland Mill is the first windmill, and the first such scheme in Sussex, to be honoured with an Angel Award”.

In the words of Andrew Lloyd Webber, this pays tribute to the “army of volunteers” over many generations who worked on the mill.

We are proud that the the Oldland Windmill Trust is one of our Heritage Partners.
